What you will cover
This full-day intensive practical workshop at BAC is the perfect introduction to puppeteering, focusing on characterisation and object manipulation.
Explore methods for devising puppet theatre, from Research and Development, through Rehearsal, to Performance.
You will cover table top and ensemble puppetry, as well as the best ways of working with a variety of scales and characteristics of puppets.
With demonstrations using the beautifully-crafted marionette and table top puppets from A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings, come and learn how you can bring your puppets to life to create dynamic and evocative theatre.
Materials are covered but PLEASE BRING A COAT OR A JACKET WITH YOU.
Please note this workshop is aimed at adults who are interested in learning more about puppetry and gaining some hands-on experience, and is not suitable for children. Suitable for 16+
About the workshop leader
As well as being an Educationalist at The Little Angel Theatre, Oliver is a specialist in the design, fabrication and animation of puppets for theatre and the screen. He teaches puppetry at Central School of Speech and Drama, and is a Director of cutting edge contemporary puppetry company Folded Feather. Amongst others he has worked with Nickelodeon, ITV, Irresistible Films, Blind Summit, The National Theatre, The Royal Theatre Bath, Puppetlab, Snuff Puppets, Sixth Sense and Travelling Light.”
