1. Christmas History Tours : The Old Vic : 13 & 20 December : 10.30am

Experience the History Tours with a festive twist in December. These special yuletide tours include mulled wine and a mince pie in The Pit Bar. The guided journey through time lasts 75 minutes and booking in advance is recommended since there are limited spaces. £20pp

2. The Boy in the Dress : Screening & Book Signing : David Walliams : BFI : 14 December

The Boy in the Dress is based on David Walliams’ best-selling book for children. Bring your little ones along to the Funday workshop with their favourite book and they will be asked to draw their favourite characters, and sketch scenes from the book to show them how they would look on the big screen. With arts and craft stands and prizes for the most imaginative adaptations, don’t miss this special Funday workshop!

3. Christmas Tree Lights & Decorating : Gabriel’s Wharf : 6 December

On 6 December 2014 the independent design, craft and art shops at Gabriel’s Wharf will be creating a magical atmosphere to make gift shopping a joyful and stress-free experience. Free seasonal treats will be on offer throughout the day, alongside festive music and the grand switching-on of the Christmas tree lights at 4.30pm.

4. Christmas Gift Making Workshops : House of Vans London : 3-12 December

There is a keep it simple rule to these workshops, or in other words, I can’t find out many details about them right now. Let’s go for 3 guesses as to what we might run into if we turn up… some skating, some very hip music, and some kinda rad’ full twisting pike gift wrapping. See you there!

5. A Christmas Carol with Griff Rhys Jones : Queen Elizabeth Hall : 14 December

A star-studded 75-minute rehearsed reading of this classic Christmas story. Returning after last year’s sold out show, the performance is narrated by Griff Rhys Jones with violin accompaniment. (carols and mince pies from 5pm for the scrooges amongst you).
